About the Artist:

Tomadee (Thomas Chedeville- 1979) is a French visual artist working across many different disciplines including painting, lettering, graphic design, animation, murals painting and illustration.

What characterizes his work, is the use of pre-existing images as source-material that he collected in the street such as posters and publicities. This material is melted and ripped in his painting to compose a new image. Most of the time an icon, a character or a text emerge from this creative chaos to tell us a unique oneiric story. He recreates every time a rhythmic and structured urban universe that invites you to escape. The resulting works are hybridized, often textural and three-dimensional images.

His work is filled with many influences: The music culture, the ’70s, the classic movies and seems familiar and intriguing, it invites the viewer to look at the world differently.
Tomadee is using our collective imagination and distort the codes he learned by working for advertising companies to ask a question. Where is the line between myth and reality?
He is very inspired by other artists as Mimmo Rotella, Basquiat, Drew Struzan, Chuck Close, Andrew Salgado… And the few ha had a chance to meet as Jeff Aérosol, Jacques Villeglé or Mr. Brainwash.

In 2017 he settled his workshop in Paris and became the resident artist of gallery Deux6. Another part of his work is also the street and the walls… Sometimes it’s official like the big mural he did for the Dax Murals festival, sometimes underground, when he prints his work and paste or spray it in the streets. The aim is to create short-lived urban stories around the cities like Paris, Miami, New-York, Barcelone, Berlin, Madrid.
