Item #001

The first guitar Joe ever catalogued.

When Joe began logging and inventorying his collection, the Pawn Shop Special was the very first instrument to be tagged — item #001.

To mark it, the first 610 sets ship with a Nerdville #001 inventory tag of their own, matching the ones Joe uses on his own guitars, plus a certificate of authenticity signed by Joe and Seymour W. Duncan.

2010 · On tour

Found hanging on a pawn shop wall.

A pristine, first-year 1961 Gibson® SG™ Special — and a set of soapbar P90s that changed how Joe heard the instrument. Articulate and responsive, sitting somewhere between a single coil and a humbucker, with plenty of bark once you push them.

It’s the tone of the players he grew up on: Pete Townshend, Carlos Santana, Leslie West. After years of recreating pickups from Joe’s favourite instruments, the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop replicated this set — their first P90 collaboration with Joe.
